o OVERVIEW
This documentation describes the installation and operation of DIGI8.DLC,
a Dynamic Link Connection module that allows PROCOMM PLUS for Windows to
operate with a DigiBoard DigiCHANNEL PC/4 or PC/8 card. Using DIGI8.DLC,
you can access either COM ports 1 through 4 (with a PC/4 card) or ports
1-8 (with a PC/8 card) on your PC simultaneously.
o REQUIREMENTS
To use DIGI8.DLC, you'll require the following:
1] An installed copy of PROCOMM PLUS for Windows, version 1.x.
2] An installed copy of the DigiBoard PC/4 PC/8 Windows Comm driver.
3] An installed DigiCHANNEL PC/4 or PC/8 card.
o INSTALLATION
Note that the DigiBoard Windows Comm driver must be properly installed to
ensure that PROCOMM PLUS for Windows can recognize the additional COM ports.
DIGI8.DLC installation is simple and straightforward: simply copy the
file to your PROCOMM PLUS for Windows home directory! Your home
directory contains all of your PROCOMM PLUS for Windows executables (for
example, the files PW.EXE amd ASPCOMPW.EXE) - the default directory name
assigned during installation is \PROWIN.
o SELECTING THE ADDITIONAL PORTS
To create a custom PROCOMM PLUS for Windows DigiCHANNEL connection, follow
these steps:
1] Open the Setup window and double-click on the Connection field.
2] Click on the Add button. From the drop-down list box, select the
modem type attached to the port you wish to use.
3] Click on the Install button. If you've selected an advanced high-
speed modem, you may need to choose a listed modem setup option.
4] From the Select Port list box, double-click on the correct port. Note
that PC/4 users will still see COM ports 1 through 8 listed, but only
the first 4 ports will be actually be available. PC/8 users will be
able to access all 8 ports.
5] PROCOMM PLUS for Windows can optionally configure your modem's non-
volatile RAM - click on Yes to write the configuration to the modem's
memory.
You've now created a DigiCHANNEL connection entry in your Setup
window! For more information about specifying this connection as the
default or adding it to one or more Dialing Directory entries, please
refer to your PROCOMM PLUS for Windows User Manual.
